Assistant Expectations

Template guidance for Assistant responsibilities, workflows, and conduct expectations.

Overview

Assistants support day-to-day community management, help maintain server spaces, and collaborate with Moderators and Administrators. Detailed role guidance will be added here.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist with community questions, reports, and routine moderation tasks.
  • Maintain a welcoming, respectful tone in all community interactions.
  • Escalate complex issues to Moderators or Administrators when needed.

Assistant Guide – Abilities & Responsibilities

Important

  • Do not abuse staff powers or use them to give players unfair advantages. These tools exist to help the community, not to benefit yourself or specific players.
  • It’s okay to make mistakes. If you’re unsure about something, ask.
  • ALL commands are logged, If you abuse commands, you will be caught.

Basic Assistant Commands

Stealth & Moderation Tools
  • /v — Enables vanish. You will be hidden from players and non-admin staff, including tab. This resets when you leave the server.
  • /mc <message> — Staff chat.
  • /sspy — Social spy. See private messages.
  • /invsee <username> or /echest <username> — View a player’s inventory or enderchest.
Utility & Fun Commands
  • /fly — Toggle flight.
  • /gamemode spectator and /gamemode survival — Enter spectator or survival mode.
Transportation Commands
  • /tp x y z — Teleport to coordinates.
  • /tp — Teleport to a player.
  • /tphere <username> — Force teleport a player to you.
  • /tptoggle — Disable teleport requests.

Griefing & CoreProtect

CoreProtect logs:

  • Block placement/removal
  • Chest/container activity
  • Kills
  • Commands
  • Logins/logouts

Inspect Mode

/co i — Toggle inspector mode.

  • Left-click a block → See who placed it
  • Right-click a block → See adjacent block removal
  • Place a block → See what was previously there
  • Right-click doors/buttons/levers → See last user
  • Right-click chest → See who added/removed items

Lookup

/co lookup r:<radius> t:<time>

Example: /co lookup r:5 t:1d

Time units:

  • m = minutes
  • h = hours
  • d = days
  • w = weeks

Rollback

/co rollback <username> r:<radius> t:<time>

Example: /co rollback beignetboo r:5 t:2w

You can specify actions:

  • a:-block → broken blocks
  • a:+block → placed blocks
  • a:container → container activity
  • b:<block> → specific block
  • e:<block> → exclude block

Example:

/co rollback beignetboo r:5 t:2w a:+block a:-block b:sea_lantern e:chest

  • Always be specific.
  • Be especially careful in The End to avoid rolling back dragons.
  • /co undo — Undo your most recent CoreProtect action.
  • /co restore — Restore a rollback (more specific undo).

Example Grief Case

Go to the location.

Run: /co lookup a:-block t:1w r:10

Identify the player and timeframe.

Roll back: /co rollback username t:3d r:10

Round time up.

Never use a lower time than the actual timestamp.

Punishment System

Check player history at: https://bans.oakglow.net

Warning Policy

Golden rule:

If a player ignores 3 previous warnings and breaks rules again → temp ban.

Evaluate each situation individually. No special treatment.

If warning an offline player:

/warn <username> <reason>

Keep language clear and simple. Many players are children.

Instant Permanent Ban

  • Racial slurs
  • Hate speech
  • Extreme obscenities

Ban Guidelines

  • 3 small griefs within 1–2 months → 1 week temp ban
  • Major grief (TNT base, mass theft, mob killing) → 1 month temp ban
  • Repeat major grief → permanent ban

Punishment Commands

  • /warn <username> <reason> — Include coordinates and world. Example: /warn G1assDa1e Minor grief (120 64 120 peaceful)
  • /comment <username> <message> — Leave internal notes.
  • /kick <username> <reason>
  • /tempmute <username> <time> <reason> — Examples: /tempmute G1assDa1e 24h Spamming | /tempmute G1assDa1e 1w Inappropriate discussion
  • /mute <username> <reason>
  • /unmute <username> <reason>
  • /tempban <username> <time> <reason>
  • /ban <username> <reason>
  • /unban <username> <reason>

Restrictions (What You Cannot Do)

  • Use Creative Mode
  • Use WorldEdit
  • Use WorldGuard
  • Create warps
  • Unclaim towns
  • Send announcements
  • Use /give, /effect, /kill, /smite
  • Mine or move faster than players
  • Assign Discord roles

Mall Plots

  • Plots inactive for 1+ month may be cleared.
  • Dead shop storage area exists.
  • Do not clear active plots upon request — players can clear their own if active.

Conduct & De-escalation

To stop arguments:

“This conversation is over. Please do not continue discussing this.”

Repeat if necessary.

Maintain professionalism in serious situations.

Be respectful and clear when investigating grief.

Avoid excessive swearing in public chat.
